Saturday 12th December - Switch-on day.  And yes, it’s wet, wild and windy once again!  Not many images, yet.  But perhaps snow’s on the way.

And on Monday 14th December ...  it rained again!

At last!  A little bit of dry weather.

This year, look out for sparkling newcomers, some new friends in old places, and old friends in new places ...

Well, there was no snow, but there was certainly plenty more rain.  By the end of the season, though, many people had visited, whatever the weather, and left their donations in the collecting boxes.  Thanks to everyone who visited and to all donators to this year’s worthy causes.

And now it’s time to say goodbye for another year ...

Charity Presentation Evening

The traditional Christmas Lights display in Haughton again resulted in successful fund raising which has benefited five local charities.  A total of £8,000 was raised and shared equally between Katharine House, Midlands Air Ambulance, Guide Dogs for the Blind, Monthly Alzheimer's Support Evening (MASE) and Starz Playgroup.

The photograph shows representatives of each charity who attended a Presentation Event at The Bell in Haughton on 9th February.  They received individual cheques of £1600 each from Joyce Moore.  All recipients acknowledged the importance of these donations and were very appreciative of the generosity of all who contributed.

The evening was well supported by many residents of the village.

From left to right are:  Colin Proudlock, with guide dog Oakley, Katie West (Air Ambulance), Emma Whitehurst (Katharine House), Joyce Moore (presenter of cheques), Andy Laws, with guide dog Foster, Alyson Sharpe (Starz Playgroup), Daphne Sharp (MASE), Bob Swinnerton (compère) and Michael Crick, with guide dog Millie.
